Brave is a 2012 American computer-animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, the film follows Merida, a skilled archer and the headstrong princess of the Scottish kingdom of DunBroch. Merida struggles with the traditions and expectations placed upon her, particularly when her mother, Queen Elinor, attempts to arrange a marriage for her. Determined to change her fate, Merida seeks the help of a mysterious witch and uses a magical spell that unexpectedly transforms her mother into a bear. Merida must then find a way to break the spell before it becomes permanent. Along the way, she learns important lessons about family, responsibility, courage, and repairing the bond between a mother and daughter.
