Moana is a 2016 American animated musical adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the film follows Moana Waialiki, the strong-willed daughter of a Polynesian village chief who is chosen by the ocean to restore the heart of the goddess Te Fiti. When a terrible darkness begins affecting her island and its people, Moana sets sail across the Pacific Ocean to find the legendary demigod Maui and convince him to help her complete the mission. During their journey, Moana and Maui encounter dangerous creatures, powerful storms, and mythical challenges. Along the way, Moana discovers her own courage, learns about her ancestors' voyaging traditions, and finds her true identity as a wayfinder.
