The core threat is non-consensual filming on a massive scale. These glasses allow users to record highly sensitive environments, like gyms, subways, and bathrooms, completely hands-free and without breaking eye contact.

While Meta includes a small LED warning light to indicate when a recording is active, it is easily missed in daylight and routinely bypassed by bad actors who tape over or disable it. Beyond just capturing faces, this constant stealth recording easily sweeps up sensitive data, like bystanders entering passcodes on their phones, and opens the door to real-time public doxxing if paired with facial recognition software.
