Why does horror hit some people completely differently? Not because they're more sensitive — because of what they're already carrying. This video starts with a memory from when I was 16, moves through the psychology of how fear actually gets built, into a part of twentieth century Asian history that most people in the west don't have a clear picture of, and ends somewhere I didn't entirely expect when I started writing it. It's about horror movies, generational trauma, and what certain stories are actually made of underneath the surface.
