Everyone told us not to go to Russia.
The warnings were everywhere, but rather than seeing the country only through headlines and screens, we decided to cross the border and experience it for ourselves.
We travelled from Latvia into Russia for a massive truck festival filled with customised trucks, passionate drivers and machines unlike anything we normally see in Western Europe.
After the festival, our journey continued toward Moscow. Driving into the Russian capital was an adventure by itself, but the greatest moment was finally reaching Red Square. I had seen it countless times in photographs and videos, but nothing prepared me for its true scale. In real life, it felt absolutely enormous.
The following morning, we left Moscow and began the long drive back toward the Russian-Latvian border. To avoid the huge queues on the main routes, we took smaller roads through remote villages, dirt tracks and endless forests in the middle of nowhere.
This video is not political propaganda or an endorsement of the Russian government. I do not support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It is simply a personal travel documentary showing our journey, the people we met, the trucks we saw and what we experienced with our own eyes.
Sometimes the only way to understand a place is to travel beyond the headlines and see it for yourself.
Thank you for watching and joining us on another journey.
