In 1999 Tom Valone was a patent examiner who got invited to organize a free energy conference at the State Department. Credentialed PhD engineers. Fourteen presenters. Completely legitimate. Then a physicist from the State Department's arms control agency found out. He made it his personal mission to shut it down. Called in his colleague Robert Park from the University of Maryland. Together they contacted the Patent Office, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Energy. Nature magazine. Science magazine. The Village Voice. They called it pseudoscience. They got Tom Valone fired. The conference was cancelled. The host reads the arbitration ruling live and cannot contain himself. These were government employees on the taxpayer payroll actively destroying the career of a man who wanted to talk about free energy. In 1999. This is not ancient history.
