Comedy movies peaked in the 2000s. The era never would've happened if it weren't for several accidents, and persistence of producers to get the classics made (that were initially rejected several times)

There hasn't been golden age magic quite like the 2000s comedy movie boom. But what surprises me is how hard it was for several of these movies to get made: for example, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy was turned down by studios for years before finally getting a shot, Superbad took over a decade to get made and took insane commitment by Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow, and Todd Phillips had to forfeit his salary just to get The Hangover made.

But it comes with great gratitude as this era birthed so many of the greatest comedy actors of all time in Seann William Scott, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Paul Rudd among countless others. This is in addition to the legendary directors Judd Apatow, Todd Phillips, and Adam McKay.
