The episode begins in the quiet, sun‑dappled corridors of the Burrows, a retirement community that feels more like a small town than an assisted‑living facility. Grace, a stoic widow, moves through her evening routine alone, her movements measured and precise. She settles into a worn armchair, the TV flickering in front of her, and initiates a video call with her husband, Edward, who lives in a separate wing of the complex. Their conversation is interrupted when Edward’s face turns ashen and he leans forward, voice trembling, “The owl… it’s inside the walls.” Before Grace can ask what he means, the screen goes dark as security personnel cut the connection, their presence hinted at only by the sudden loss of signal. Later that night, Grace lies in bed, the low hum of the television filling the room. A sudden, metallic whir slices through the quiet as a creature drops from the ceiling fan, its limbs contorting in a grotesque fashion.
