"Days of Past Future" shifts into high gear as Forge and Bishop deploy an ambitious time-travel rescue plan to locate the X-Men, who have been scattered across different eras following the explosive events of the previous season finale. The narrative masterfully splits its focus between two critical eras: Ancient Egypt (3000 B.C.), where Professor X, Magneto, Rogue, Beast, and Nightcrawler cross paths with a young En Sabah Nur before he assumes his villainous moniker, and the far-future Atlantic Basin (3960 A.D.), where Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Morph, and Storm navigate a dystopia controlled by an all-powerful Apocalypse. While combating these timeline threats, Cyclops and Jean face an agonizing emotional hurdle upon reuniting with Mother Askani and a young Nathan Summers, leading to a heartbreaking sequence where Jean uses her telepathy to suppress the child’s agonizing techno-organic virus before they finally reveal to him that they are his parents. The premiere wraps up with a jaw-dropping showcase of power from Storm, a surprise transformation into Thor by Morph, and a final transition to the present era, where a battle-hardened, adult Cable begins assembling a new, militaristic mutant force.
