Rochester was once one of the oldest cities in the United Kingdom, dating as far back as the 13th century. It held on to that status for almost 800 years until an administrative error forced Rochester's city status away in 1998. Almost 30 years later, Rochester is still recognised as a town and has merged into a larger Kent area called Medway.
In this documentary, we look to uncover how Rochester exactly lost it's city status, identify the key areas of Medway today, and discover how realistic it would be for Medway to become a city.
