Oxford Union debate: 'Israel never truly wanted peace with Palestine'

On Thursday, The Oxford Union, the world's most prestigious debating society, hosted a debate with the motion: "Israel never truly wanted peace with Palestine".

Attending the debate on the proposition were Israeli historian Ilan Pappe, British journalist Sami Hamdi, MEE's Editor in Chief David Hearst, and Palestinian Scholar Ghada Karmi.

The opposition was debated by four Israeli speakers: politician Einat Wilf, writer Hen Mazzig, journalist Emily Schrader, and former editor in chief of The Jerusalem Post Avi Mayer.

The house won the debate, as tensions rose during the event.
