Microsoft Edge was criticized after a researcher showed that saved passwords could be loaded into cleartext memory when the browser started, even if those passwords were not being used. Microsoft first said this fit its threat model, but has now updated Edge so passwords no longer load into memory at startup, with the change included in Edge Stable version 148.0.3967.70.
