Lancer Spy (1937) – Movie Overview

Lancer Spy is an American spy thriller directed by Gregory Ratoff and released in 1937. The film stars Dolores del Río, George Sanders, and Peter Lorre. Set during World War I, the story combines espionage, romance, and suspense.
The story follows British naval officer Michael Bruce, who closely resembles a captured German officer, Baron Kurt von Rohback. British intelligence sends Bruce undercover to Germany, where he impersonates the German officer in an attempt to gather valuable military information. His mission becomes increasingly dangerous when German intelligence officers begin to suspect his true identity. At the same time, a beautiful German spy assigned to investigate him falls in love with him, creating a dramatic conflict between duty and emotion.
