Size becomes difficult to imagine when it reaches the scale of Megalodon. Fossils do not preserve the full body, only teeth and fragments, yet those pieces are enough to suggest a predator far larger than any shark alive today.

Estimates come from comparison. By studying tooth size and applying it to known shark anatomy, scientists build models of what its body may have looked like. These reconstructions point to a length that could exceed 15 meters, with a mass that would place it among the largest predators to ever live.

Its jaws alone hint at that scale. Rows of massive teeth, designed for cutting through bone and flesh, suggest a bite powerful enough to handle large marine animals. Prey would not need to be small — entire whales could have been part of its diet.

Even with these clues, uncertainty remains. Different methods produce slightly different results, and without a complete skeleton, the full picture stays just out of reach. What we understand is based on patterns, not direct observation.

This gentle documentary for sleep drifts into the question of how big megalodon really was, exploring what fossil evidence can tell us and why the true scale of this ancient predator still feels just beyond certainty.
