When geology student Kai Mercer is dragged through a dimensional rift in the Arctic ice, he wakes in Aethoria — a parallel world of floating jungles, crystal oceans, and ancient dragons, already torn apart by war. A rogue scientist from Earth, Victor Hargrove, is capturing and weaponizing Aethoria's creatures, fusing Earth technology with stolen magic to merge both dimensions under his control.

Kai discovers he is the prophesied "Riftborn" — the one soul who can reach the creatures through communion instead of domination. Alongside a fierce dragon rider, a wild tracker, and a young Archon dragon, Kai must free the enslaved beasts, defeat Hargrove, and seal the Rift before two worlds annihilate each other — without losing the bonds that made him worth saving.
