During the brutal Tet Offensive, combat photographer Fitzpatrick is embedded with the battle-scarred “2 Step Platoon,” a U.S. Army unit led by the hardened Sergeant Crenshaw. Assigned to rescue missionary Father Downing from deep behind enemy lines, the platoon fights through relentless Viet Cong ambushes, deadly booby traps, and the unforgiving Vietnamese jungle. Along the way, they uncover a hidden weapons cache and rescue an American civilian held captive by the enemy, but every victory comes at a devastating cost as the platoon is slowly wiped out.
