On October 14th, 2010, 18-year-old Northern Illinois University freshman Antinette "Toni" Keller told her friends she was heading to Prairie Park in DeKalb, Illinois to take photos for an art project. It was noon on a Thursday. A public park. Broad daylight. She never came back. What followed was one of the most haunting missing persons cases in NIU history; a massive campus lockdown, a frantic search involving over 40 investigators, and a discovery in those same woods that would shake the entire DeKalb community to its core. Toni was a first-generation college student just six weeks into her freshman year, an art major, a nature lover, a girl with a sunflower tattoo she designed herself. She was exactly the kind of person who had everything ahead of her. This is her story.
