Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has announced the formation of a special complaints cell to crack down on social media abuse, online trolling, fake accounts, and defamatory content, especially targeting women. Victims will soon be able to submit screenshots, video links, and other evidence through a dedicated email ID and WhatsApp helpline. The government has assured complete confidentiality and protection for complainants. Speaking through Facebook, Pawan Kalyan revealed that a special task force is being created in coordination with Cyber Crime Police. He warned that those spreading fake news or engaging in malicious online campaigns could face strict legal action under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 353 and Sections 66C & 66D of the Information Technology Act, including non-bailable cases for fake account creation and online fraud. He also stated that individuals operating abusive social media accounts from foreign countries would be identified, with the government working alongside central agencies to issue lookout notices and initiate passport cancellation wherever legally applicable. Pawan Kalyan emphasized that cyber crimes have no caste, religion, or political affiliation. He warned that paid political IT cells, organized troll networks, and those financing coordinated online abuse would be tracked through IP addresses, and both the operators and masterminds would face legal consequences. Reaffirming his commitment to democracy, Pawan Kalyan said the government welcomes constructive criticism but will not tolerate misuse of freedom of speech to spread false allegations, abusive content, or misinformation without evidence. He reminded citizens that freedom of expression comes with constitutional responsibilities and reasonable legal restrictions. He also appealed to the youth to stay away from cyber crimes, announcing awareness programs in colleges to educate students about responsible social media usage and the legal consequences of online offenses. Stressing respectful communication and responsible digital behavior, he warned that anyone crossing legal and ethical boundaries would face strict action.
